IT’S STILL ABOUT THE CROSS

As I look at the work of George Barna, his statistics and surveys reveal that the average millennial in America cannot answer the following questions:
1.) Where do we come from?
2.) What are we?
3.) Where are we going?
Far too many of them have been raised to believe that they exist as a result of “time plus matter plus chance.” They’re a collection of molecules held in suspension. There is no ultimate destiny towards which they are moving. Therefore, there is no arc that they are able to navigate throughout life, and they are ‘lost at sea.’ And if the message that is then offered to them is a watered down substitute for the message of the cross, then we shouldn’t be surprised that they just walk away from it. Because what we have to face up to is the fact of our rebellion against God, and no part of our life is left intact.
We must come to God by way of the cross of Christ alone. Without the preaching of the cross, we will very quickly revert to “faith plus works” as the grounds of salvation. It’s time to repent. Come back to the cross.
“At the cross
At the cross
Where I first saw the light
And the burdens of my heart rolled away
It was there by faith
I received my sight
And now I am happy all the day”
