The spiritual realm is real. There are things that invite the presence of the Holy Spirit and things that invite demonic influence. What you and I allow into our home affects the spiritual atmosphere in our midst. What we tolerate will take root. What you do not remove will remain a gateway for the evil one. Many do not even realize how serious this is because they assume that as long as they’re not actively worshipping an idol it has no power over them and they become desensitized to the darkness that’s creeping into their midst.
It is not just about what you believe, it’s about what that object represents in the spiritual realm. There are symbols, artifacts, statues, books, and even certain forms of art (and entertainment we allow into our home) that have been used in rituals dedicated to false gods or created with the intent of carrying dark spiritual significance. The fact that you don’t believe in this power does not change the reality of its origin. This is why God commanded the Israelites to destroy the altars of false (demon) gods, to burn the carved images, and to remove anything associated with idolatry. Because as long as these things existed, they would remain a doorway for the enemy to operate.
Are there things in your house that do not align with God’s holiness? Are there objects which were created for purposes that do not honor Him? Are there things in your possession that have connections to false, unbiblical beliefs or spiritual darkness?
Let me ask, what is more important, keeping an object or keeping the presence of God strong in your home? What’s more valuable; sentimental attachment to an item or protecting your household from spiritual oppression? God’s command is clear: Renounce, repent, and remove these things in the Name of Jesus.
Anything that has been associated with idolatry, sorcery, or demonic influences have no place in the life of a believer. If it does not honor God, if it stands in opposition to His Word, it does not belong in your home.
When you fill your home with the presence of God, the enemy has no place to stay. the Bible tells us in Joshua 24:15, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” That must be our declaration as well!
Also, 2 Corinthians 6:16-18 says,
What agreement does the temple of God have with idols?
For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said,
“I will dwell among them and walk among them;
And I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord.
“And do not touch what is unclean;
And I will welcome you.
And I will be a father to you,
And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,”
Says the Lord Almighty.
Maybe, just maybe, it’s time for a good spiritual house cleaning.
