When someone loudly challenges your love for Jesus Christ with their self-proclaimed atheism, rationality, and reason…
Whenever an unbeliever steps up and expresses any hostility at all, I will normally stop and ask them, “Let me ask just one question, IF Christianity were true, would you become a Christian?” Quite a few atheists have responded with a resounding, “NO.” My answer is then, “No? I thought you claimed to be reasonable and rational. How is it reasonable that you wouldn’t believe something that was true?”
Really, it has nothing to do with reason. Their’s is not a head problem. It is a heart problem. They don’t want it to be true. They don’t want there to be a God. Why? Because they want to be “god” over their own lives. They’re not on a quest for truth, they are on a happiness quest and they’re just going to believe whatever makes them happy. Here’s the problem: You can make yourself “happy” over the short term raising hell and having a lot of fun, but ultimately it’s through selfish and sinful things. However, in the long term, it is a disaster. If you want true contentment, you must go humbly and straight to absolute truth, because Jesus is The Truth.
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” -Jesus (John 14:6).
