REVIVE US, O LORD!

We read in church history and the Bible itself of numerous powerful revivals. Most of us pray for a great Last Days, Heaven-Sent, Holy Ghost Revival in our day, which is right and good. However, people today must understand that the Revivals throughout history were very controversial while they were happening. There wasn’t “smooth sailing” during these powerful moves of God. When Almighty God creates a Revival, the evil one often counterfeits with a riot. When a ministry is making headway and taking ground against the kingdom of darkness, you can count on the fact that the backlash is coming. Both Jesus and the apostle Paul had to leave locales because of mobs (Acts 17:5; 19:23; 19:29; 19:40; 21:31 & 21:35, just to name a few). Neither our Lord nor Paul had legal protection from these mobs, and the same is often true today.
Though it’s true there are some wolves in shepherd’s clothes these days, we also see truly Godly leaders and their churches/ministries being viciously attacked when experiencing authentic moves of God in their cities. These attacks are often ultimately stirred up and fueled by demonic forces with a visible human leader. Today, especially online, mobs can form almost instantly. Some critics specialize in gathering a mob from the comfort of their smart phones.
Are we truly willing to count the cost and pay the price for genuine Revival? I believe most of us are. Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus!
